Hugo Oliveira, Fulham goalie coach, is in talks to become the head coach of Portuguese club Famalicão. That is according to O Jogo, who reports that the Fulham coach wants to advance in his career and become head coach.
According to their knowledge, Oliveira is the main candidate to succeed Armando Evangelista at the Portuguese club.
According to reports, Oliveira is looking for a head coaching opportunity after serving on Marco Silva’s ‘technical committee’ as a goalie coach.
After a playing career in Portugal, the 45-year-old transitioned into coaching and has worked for Hull City, Watford, and Everton in England.
Famalicão had considered hiring former Braga manager Daniel Sousa as Evangelista’s replacement, but he elected to transfer abroad after receiving offers from teams outside of Portugal.
That has prompted them to shift their focus to Oliveira, and it appears that they are ready to give the Fulham manager his first chance as a head coach.
Negotiations are already underway to make this happen, with a compensation payment expected before the goalkeeper coach can leave Fulham and Marco Silva.
