For the third consecutive season, the Cincinnati Reds will select in the top ten in the MLB Draft in June.
The MLB Draft Lottery was held on Tuesday at the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings, and the Reds won the No. 9 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 Draft, which will take place in Atlanta from July 13 to 15.
The Washington Nationals will pick first overall next summer.
It comes after the Reds were awarded the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, when they selected right-handed pitcher Chase Burns from Wake Forest.
With their first pick in 2023, the Reds selected Rhett Lowder, a right-handed pitcher from Wake Forest, at number seven overall.

Burns, Lowder, shortstop Edwin Arroyo, and corner infielders Cam Collier and Sal Stewart lead the minor league system entering the 2025 season. Looking ahead to the 2025 draft class, MLB Pipeline ranks infielder Ethan Holliday as the top overall prospect. Holliday is the younger brother of Baltimore Orioles standout Jackson Holliday and the son of former Major League Baseball All-standout outfielder Matt Holliday.
MLB Pipeline’s top five draft-eligible players in 2025 include Texas A&M outfielder Jace LaViolette, Florida State pitcher Jamie Arnold, UC Santa Barbara pitcher Tyler Bremner, and California high school pitcher Seth Hernandez.
