Hull City owner Acun Ilicali has announced that Jared Dublin has been appointed to the club’s sports director post.
Dublin, who joined City in the summer after leaving Championship rivals Stoke City in May, has taken on the new position in recent weeks and was instrumental in bringing Ruben Selles to the MKM Stadium, having previously worked with the Spaniard at Reading. The American, who formerly worked for Google, takes over the position left vacant by Beri Pardo. He will play an important part in the forthcoming January transfer window, which will be critical in City’s efforts to climb out of the Championship relegation zone. “This is a new chapter for us as a club bringing Ruben in and the team that comes around him,” Dublin said the crowd. “I’ve already worked with Ruben at Reading, which makes things easier for us, especially as January approaches.
“We are seeking for young, eager players and personnel that we believe can work at the Premier League level. We want to look after the greatest long-term interests of this club, and I believe you’ve seen some of that this summer with the young players we’ve brought in.
“Hopefully, Ruben will bring an aggressive style of football that fans will enjoy watching.” This is an entertaining sport. I am a football fanatic, and Hull City has an excellent staff. “I see a determined individual with exceptional man management abilities. His tactical expertise and comprehension of the game are at an elite level. There are numerous reasons why he was the number one candidate. People will relate to him since he is honest and hardworking. We think highly of him as a football coach and as a person.”
