The Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Guardians are once again discussing a deal for first baseman Josh Naylor.
The Blue Jays closed a trade with the Guardians for Andres Gimenez last week, but they apparently considered trading for Josh Naylor before the Gimenez deal was completed, and things are currently heating up again.
The Blue Jays and Guardians are in trade discussions for first baseman Josh Naylor.
According to MLB reporter Jack Azoulay-Haron, the Blue Jays are negotiating with the Guardians once more, but this time for Canadian first baseman Josh Naylor. However, it appears that the Blue Jays aren’t the only team interested.
Naylor would be an ideal fit for the Blue Jays, not just because he is Canadian, but also because he would add much-needed offensive flair to their lineup with Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Last season, Naylor hit 31 home runs, 108 RBI, and had a.243 batting average in 152 games for the Cleveland Guardians.
The only difficulty some may see is that if Naylor moves to first base, the Blue Jays will have to shift Guerrero to third base, leaving Ernie Clement out of the lineup.
