The Swans’ manager claims work is already well started ahead of the January window. Swansea City’s Luke Williams thinks they are making good progress in their efforts to strengthen the squad, but they are unlikely to make a large number of additions when the transfer window reopens.
The Swans manager recently indicated that the club have identified prospective new additions ahead of January, and that some potential deals are already moving forward, albeit at the time of writing, they did not appear to be on the verge of making an early breakthrough.Nonetheless, Williams says he is satisfied with the efforts seen so far, adding that the club’s recruitment team is working hard to ensure the club is ready to run out of the traps come January.
“We’re [making progress]. We left here pretty late last night after a lengthy meeting regarding all things recruitment. There’s so much to it, and we’re in a terrific spot. So we’re prepared to strike as soon as the window opens.
“However, it does not ensure anything. Just because we’re prepared and in a good spot doesn’t mean anything because there is always a third party with a different set of problems.”
Williams claims he is unaware of any potential interest in Falkirk right-back Keelan Adams, but insists the club does have certain individuals in mind.
“We’re talking to clubs and agents of players,” according to him. “So we’re fairly well along with the preparations. I don’t want to give the impression that everything has been signed and we’re just waiting for the formal window, since we still need the other parties to be in the right spot and ready to commit.” Despite the recent takeover and the subsequent £20 million cash injection into the club, budgets are expected to be tight again this winter.
Williams remains optimistic that the team will be able to complete some transactions, but he believes a large number of transfers are doubtful.
“I would say one to three would be reasonable for what we’re trying to do, and I believe it should be because
“I think so many of the players have come on in their performances and started to find their feet in the Championship, and we have to make sure that we give them the room to continue to grow because we could very well have some top Championship players on our hands if we do that correctly.”
Williams claims he briefly addressed the impending timeframe with members of the incoming ownership group, whom he met last weekend.
Along with Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, Williams met Keith English, who is believed to have joined the club as a minority investor.
“It was good to meet them,” he said.
said. “A lot of energy. They are incredibly astute and accomplished.
“I’ve met Brett before, but Jason and Keith it was the first time, and it was very positive.”We were able to sit down and have a more in-depth conversation, and as I previously stated, there was a lot of energy and excitement about the club.
“So that is a good thing. To meet people who appear to be genuinely engaged, as well as those who have achieved success and understand how difficult the obstacles that come with it may be.
