Alvin Kamara has been the heartbeat of the New Orleans Saints’ offense for several years, and even as he approaches 30, that will not change in 2024.
However, there’s a good chance the Saints will be without him on Monday night — and possibly for the remainder of the season. Kamara is suffering with a groin injury received on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, and interim head coach Darren Rizzi says it appears to be worse than initially anticipated.
Kamara leads the Saints in both rushing yards (950) and receiving yards (543) in 2024, after quietly having one of his greatest seasons in Year Eight. He has a good chance of making his first Pro Bowl since 2021.
I am unable to suit up.
With Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Taysom Hill out with injuries, Kamara was carrying a heavier responsibility than he has in his career. He dismissed trade speculations earlier this season, despite New Orleans’ season being over by the halfway point, and has given his all in every game for the faltering team. Kamara achieved a career high of 950 running yards in 2024 and is on the verge of surpassing 1,000 yards for the first time. It would be really regrettable if his injury prevented him from doing so.
Meanwhile, veteran Jamaal Williams and second-year player Kendre Miller will be prepared to step. Up in Kamara’s absence for as long as necessary.
