Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona ‘set to join’ Leeds United in transfer chase for Sporting Lisbon prospect

Real Madrid and Barcelona are also connected with a deal for Dario Essugo. Leeds United are allegedly facing stiff competition from Premier League giants Chelsea to recruit highly regarded midfielder Dario Essugo.

United, who are also said to be closing in on the signing of Australian goalkeeper Robbie Cook following a successful trial spell, have plenty of options in central midfield in the form of Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, Ao Tanaka, Joe Rothwell, Josuha Guilavogui and youngster Charlie Crew. Gruev remains on the sidelines due to a significant knee injury, Rothwell is poised to return to his Guilavogui will become a free agent next summer after finishing the season with his parent club Bournemouth, while Wales Under-21 international Crew remains untested at the senior level.
