Following the loss to the Texas Longhorns, Cade Klubnik discussed his future with the Clemson Tigers. The Clemson Tigers lost 38-24 to the Texas Longhorns in the College Football Playoff first round.
While the Tigers didn’t play poorly overall, the Longhorns dominated for the majority of the game. Clemson deserves a lot of credit for not giving up in this game, as they cut the margin to seven points late in the fourth.
However, this is a strong Texas squad and has the potential to be one of the best in the country.
In the loss, the defense struggled to slow the Longhorns on the
ground. This was an area where the Tigers needed to improve if they were going to pull off the upset, and they simply failed not do so. While the defense struggled, junior quarterback Cade Klubnik performed admirably despite the loss. Against probably the finest passing defense in the country, the brilliant quarterback threw for 336 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
His homecoming probably did not go as planned, and after the game, he was queried about his future with the program.
“I’m just trying to deal with the emotions of tonight,” Klubnik stated during his postgame press conference, per the Clemson Insider. “I got to play my final football game with a bunch.
of these guys, therefore I’m not thinking about myself right now. I’m simply trying to think about all of the relationships I’ve formed over the last three years. That’s all I’m thinking about right now. After a rough start in the first game of the season, the junior went on to have an outstanding year. Klubnik finished the season with 3,639 passing yards, 36 passing touchdowns, six interceptions, and 463 rushing yards with seven touchdowns.
He was able to establish himself as one of the finest quarterbacks in the country, which could lead him to consider entering the NFL Draft.
There is undoubtedly a lot to commend about his improvement since From his sophomore season to his junior season, he will be an intriguing prospect, especially given his ability to run. The Tigers, on the other hand, are hoping that their star quarterback will return for his final year. Losing Klubnik would be devastating to the program, since he might be a Heisman candidate in 2025.
