The first transfer portal window in college football is winding down, but there are still a few key players seeking for new opportunities. According to On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett, former NC State wide receiver Kevin Concepcion committed to Texas A&M on Sunday. Concepcion is one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal, and he is widely considered as one of college football’s best wide receivers. He was chased by multiple elite institutions around the country, including Colorado, Alabama, and Miami (FL), before electing to attend College Station.
Concepcion had a bad season in 2024 while dealing with an NC State squad that fell short of expectations, as well as having to change quarterbacks due to Grayson McCall’s brain injury and retirement. Nonetheless, Concepcion scored eight touchdowns and accumulated nearly 500 yards of offense. Concepcion emerged as a star in 2023, as one of the top offensive weapons in the ACC. NC State employed him as a quarterback, runner, and receiver, and his stats justified the hype. In 13 games as a freshman, Concepcion caught 71 passes for 839 yards and ran for 320 yards. He scored 10 touchdowns for the Wolfpack.
Mike Elko and Texas A&M will be hopeful that Concepcion can continue to generate such numbers with the Aggies, who are developing a very good offensive core for next season. Quarterback Marcel Reed will return for his second season as starter, while Concepcion will join former top recruit and Texas Tech transfer Micah Hudson and former Mississippi State wideout Mario Craver. As a result, an Aggies offense that struggled to throw the ball at times this season should have a plethora of options in 2025. Texas A&M’s spectacular success this season can be attributed to a variety of factors, including wide receiver signings. Elko and company have also added Georgia cornerback Julian Humphrey and Colorado defensive end Dayon Hayes.
There’s more. After nearly reaching the SEC Championship this season, Texas A&M appears to be even better next year.
