Which early signees/planned early entrants from Texas’ 2025 recruiting class could follow in the footsteps of a few other players and report to campus for postseason practice while head coach Steve Sarkisian prepares for the playoffs?
Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian has signed the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class for the 2025 cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite. In the midst of a busy month of December for Texas on the field and on the recruiting trail, from high school recruitment to the winter NCAA Transfer Portal, it appears that Sarkisian and his team have been working nonstop for the previous four or five weeks.
Texas football’s top-ranked signees from the 2025 recruiting class arrive on campus early to gain critical postseason practice reps.
When the Longhorns began playoff and 12-team College Football Playoff preparation for the Clemson game a few weeks ago, a few of early signees from Texas’s 2025 high school recruiting class took advantage of the opportunity to get extra reps with Texas.
On Dec. 27, Inside Texas revealed that some early signees from the Longhorns 2025 class were already on campus and practicing with the scout team prior to the Christmas holiday break earlier in the week. And it appears that the Longhorns intend to bring many more early signees from the 2025 class to campus in the coming days to train with the scout team.
Here are three blue-chip early signees from the Longhorns’ 2025 class who are already practicing with the team in December for postseason playoff games.
Justus Terry (DL)
Justus Terry, a five-star defensive lineman from Manchester (GA), is one of the Longhorns’ most recent 2025 signees to arrive on campus in December to participate in postseason practice. This is a great opportunity for Terry to become involved in Texas’ defensive line room and catch up with the front seven during playoff practice and preparation.
Given the dearth of depth and proven experience Texas has returning at interior defensive line for the next summer for 2025, getting Terry on campus is critical for the Longhorns to receive more valuable practice.
Reps and depth up front during postseason practice. Texas signed Terry, the nation’s No. 2 defensive line recruit in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking, securing the Longhorns’ No. 1 ranking for this cycle.
Lance Jackson, Edge
Lance Jackson, a top five-star edge rusher from the Longhorns’ 2025 class, was also invited to postseason practice up front along the defensive front seven in December.
Jackson, a former top-50 prospect from Texarkana (TX) Pleasant Grove High School, is eager to get down to business during the Longhorns’ playoff practice in December.
Jackson appears to be eager to get started and arrive on campus as an early enrollee for the Longhorns, having been recruited for at least five or six months as of this summer. He’s been committed to and engaged with the Longhorns as one of the top-rated high school recruits in Texas’s 2025 class since the summer of last offseason on the trail.
Michael Terry III, ATH/WR.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Longhorns made some significant late additions to the 2025 class, bringing a wealth of quality, versatility, and upside to the SEC’s skill positions this offseason.
Five-star San Antonio (TX) Alamo Heights athletic signee Michael Terry III is allegedly starting with the scout.
The Longhorns’ wide receivers are currently practicing. Terry joined with the Longhorns as an athlete in the 2025 class, but it appears that he will have the opportunity to show himself as a bigger wideout in Sarkisian’s playbook when spring ball approaches in the 2025 summer. Terry quickly arrived on school after publicly announcing his commitment to the Longhorns in the 2025 class on December 4. Terry has been favored to commit to the Longhorns since his recruitment began last summer.
I wouldn’t be surprised if more five-star wide receiver signees for the Longhorns in the 2025 class, such as Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin’s Jaime Ffrench and Sachse’s (TX) Kaliq Lockett, will be on campus practicing with Texas by
the start of next week.
