West Ham are looking to sign Evan Ferguson in the January transfer window, with Brighton still deciding on his future, according to Ben Jacobs.
The GiveMeSport writer revealed on X (1 January) that inquiries concerning the striker’s services have been made with his current club, but no decision has been taken.
The Seagulls are thought to be in favour of insisting on an obligation clause if they sell the 20-year-old, who is also desired by Arsenal and Fulham, during the transfer window.

Julen Lopetegui, looking to keep his position at the London Stadium, is in need of attacking reinforcements, especially following Jarrod’s recent blow. Bowen fractured his foot. Ferguson has only one goal from 12 appearances this season due to injury, but given his current club’s terrible form, a move might be just what the highly regarded teenager needs to rejuvenate him in the second half of the campaign. Whether the Seagulls believe they can part ways remains to be seen, and with his contract extending until 2029, there is now little urgency to approve a leave in the upcoming transfer window.
Furthermore, teammate James Milner pushed his team to keep “phenomenal” finisher Ferguson in January 2024, telling TNT Sports: “There’s hype around him, as there should be, but he’s definitely in the right place at this moment in time, and hopefully he’ll keep banging them in for us.”
For the time being, the Hammers will have to keep an eye on this situation and be prepared to strike if Brighton decides to let the striker go. If David Sullivan can pull off this signing, he will undoubtedly offer the type of improvement that The Irons are looking for.
