BREAKING NEWS : Orioles $88 million All-Star now set to leave Baltimore for rival Blue Jays.

The Baltimore Orioles may already be prepping for the inevitable signing.

After a tremendous 2024 season, Anthony Santander entered free agency hoping to make a lot of money. The Orioles, knowing they wouldn’t be able to pay the first-time All-Star’s asking price, instead signed Tyler O’Neill to a three-year contract as his substitute. Now, the Orioles have little control on where Santander signs. However, they would still prefer to see him leave the American League East, and the way things are going, the chances of that happening appear slim.

On Monday, insider Jim Bowden of The Athletic predicted that Santander would sign with the Toronto Blue Jays, who have been the most commonly linked to.

the switch-hitting slugger for the past month.”The Santander market has been strangely quiet, but all indications are he’ll end up on a non-contending team and get his long-term contract,” according to Bowden.

“There is a lot of buzz in the industry about the Blue Jays being all-in on him, and they definitely need his 44-home run power in between Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette in their lineup.”Orioles $88 million All-Star predicted to dump Baltimore for rival Blue Jays

According to Spotrac, Santander is expected to sign a five-year contract worth $89 million this winter. Because of their desperate need to bolster the roster and persuade Guerrero to stay in free agency next winter, Toronto seemed destined to give at least that much.

It will not be enjoyable to see Santander drive balls out of the yard. against the Orioles rather than for them, but the bed is already prepared. It’s only a matter of whether he ends up in Toronto or elsewhere.
