Atlanta Falcons trade prediction would send Raiders $94 million superstar to Atlanta

The Atlanta Falcons came just short of making the NFL playoffs in 2024, thanks in part to the problems of veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins, who was eventually replaced by rookie Michael Penix Jr. toward the season’s end.

Another major reason the Falcons missed out on the playoffs was their defense, which ranked middle of the pack or worse against the run and pass. In terms of pass defense, the Falcons struggled to get after the quarterback, ranking second-to-last with 31 sacks.

If the Falcons want to take the next step in 2025, they must improve their defense, particularly the pass rush, which may lose veteran Matt Judon, who is set to hit free agency following a 5.5-sack season.

One option the Falcons may consider for an upgrade is Las Vegas Raiders standout edge rusher Maxx Crosby, who is still under contract but has left his future with the franchise uncertain following yet another poor season.

If Crosby becomes available, Eric Smithling of Yardbarker anticipates that the Falcons will acquire him in a trade.

Smithling suggested trading for Crosby, who had 59.5 sacks in his first six seasons. Crosby needs no introduction. He’s been one of the NFL’s best pass rushers for years, earning four straight Pro Bowl selections after totaling 42.5 sacks during that time.

Crosby is coming off a poor year in 2024, totaling 7.5 sacks, but he was also dealing with an ankle issue for much of the season.

While Crosby has often emphasized that he wants to stay in Las Vegas, he has left the door open for his future to be elsewhere.Atlanta Falcons Rookie QB Michael Penix On His Biggest Adjustment In The NFL

“Obviously, there are a lot of decisions to be made,” Crosby stated on his podcast lately. “On a

Personally, I have to make the best decision for me. I’ll see. We’re not sure what the coach or front office will look like. There will be a lot of changes. Before the Falcons can consider dealing for Crosby, they need to sort out their salary cap issue. Atlanta is now predicted to be $7.9 million over the cap by 2025.

However, if that is resolved, the Falcons should be all over Crosby if he becomes available in the coming months for trade. Crosby would not only dramatically boost their pass rush, but he is also a tremendous locker room leader who would instill confidence and identity in the Atlanta defense, which is lacking.
