Noah Jones, a junior punter for the Georgia Bulldogs, will transfer to Samford. Jones revealed his choice to go to Samford via social media.
Jones thanked the Samford coaches for the opportunity before confirming his commitment to the Bulldogs.
Jones entered the transfer portal shortly after Georgia starting punter Brett Thorson said he will return for the 2025 college football season. Jones thanked his Georgia coaches before going through the transfer portal.
“Thank you to Coach Smart, Coach Cochran, Coach King, Coach Ray, Coach Benidict, and the University of Georgia for the past four years and the chance I was given!! With that said, I am approaching the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining,” Jones stated on social media.
Jones enrolled at Georgia in 2021. He played in Georgia’s G-Day spring scrimmage several times but never saw regular-season action. His best opportunity to play came in the Sugar Bowl. Brett Thorson, Georgia’s punter, had a major knee injury in the SEC championship game, therefore the team had punter competition.
Jones, however, lost the punter race to freshman Drew Miller, who punted four times for 159 yards in the Sugar Bowl (39.8 yards per punt). Both Miller and Thorson are expected to return in 2025, thus UGA is set at punter.
