BREAKING NEWS : Josh Pate Sends 5 word Strong Message on Quinn Ewers’ NFL Draft Decision

Instead of returning to the Texas Longhorns for another season, Quinn Ewers flipped a huge NIL and declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. According to Chip Brown of 247Sports, Ewers could have earned $8 million in NIL money if he stayed for another season. On a recent episode of “Josh Pate’s College Football Show,” Josh Pate addressed people criticizing Ewers for leaving early. Pate believed that Ewers’ legacy was more important than his financial success. He cited the shift in the standard of staying at one school throughout college, as players can now transfer and attend different institutions. “May I use the ‘L’ word here? Pate asked. “No one knows where I’m heading. Legacy. Legacy is important. You’ve always taken it for granted because, until about 10 minutes ago, guys had played and concluded their careers at the same institution. But that’s getting less and less common, particularly in his position.”

Pate went on to describe how important it was to have the title of former Texas quarterback associated with Ewers’ name over time. “Do you know how much it’s worth to Quinn Ewers over the next 30 years on the speaking circuit, at public events and functions, to market himself solely as a legacy former Texas quarterback? Pate said. “Just Texas QB. “Over the next few years, that’s worth significantly more than $4 million.” Ewers began his college career with the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2021. He was the top overall talent and quarterback in the 2021 class according to the On3 Industry Rankings. After not getting enough playing time, he transferred to Texas, where he spent three seasons. Ewers has 9,128 throwing yards, 68 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions from 2022 to 2024. The Miami Dolphins finally selected Ewers in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL draft.
