
On March 13, 2022, the Cincinnati Reds traded Sonny Gray and pitching prospect Francis Peguero to the Minnesota Twins for highly-touted prospect Chase Petty. Despite coming off a 2021 season that saw him pitch to a 4.19 ERA with Cincinnati, he was still a very serviceable veteran pitcher with a solid floor and ceiling. Gray gave the Twins two great seasons, pitching to a 3.08 and 2.79 ERA (both best on the team) and consistently turned heads and polarized scouts with his projections.
