JUST IN : Georgia offering 4-star Notre Dame commit is a huge worry for Marcus Freeman

Georgia is after a big Notre Dame football commit—and the battle is about to get personal. Notre Dame football has been so successful in recruiting that Marcus Freeman may seem untouchable. That he cannot be beaten. That the team will just cruise to the finish line.

Freeman and his coaches may get a dose of reality this week as other clubs take notice of the outstanding players the Irish are bringing in. For example, the Georgia Bulldogs have targeted one North Dakota commit, which might spark a traditional recruitment battle.

Notre Dame commits. Thomas Davis Jr. is on Georgia’s radar.
Notre Dame coaches must be concerned about Kirby Smart’s appeal for linebacker commit Thomas Davis Jr. After all, the 4-star pledge from North Carolina has strong ties to Athens. His father, Thomas Davis Sr., was an All-American at Georgia.

The elder Davis played for the Bulldogs from 2002 to 2004, after which he had a great NFL career. It’s reasonable to say he’s overjoyed to see his son receiving more attention from his alma mater.

The real question is whether Notre Dame’s commitment list for the 2026 class will work in their favor.

Davis is a member of one of the top classes in the nation. Almost every recruiting site ranks them higher than Georgia. There’s also the reality that the Fighting Irish advanced to the National Championship game and defeated Smart’s squad along the way. Freeman will almost certainly refer to his team’s improved chances of winning it all in the next year or two.

Still, this is a race to watch. This spring, the Notre Dame football squad has gained incredible momentum. The coaching staff does not want to lose someone who has been committed since November of last year.
