LATEST UPDATE : Reds place 23 years outfielder on injured list with left calf tenderness

The Cincinnati Reds have placed outfielder Jake Fraley on the 10-day disabled list for left calf tightness. HOUSTON—The Cincinnati Reds placed outfielder Jake Fraley on the 10-day disabled list Saturday due to left calf soreness.

The move is retroactive to Wednesday, after he attempted to return Friday night in the series opener against the Houston Astros but was scratched about an hour before the game. Fraley is hitting.205 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 28 games this season.

His is the latest in a spate of injuries for the Reds, who added right-hander Hunter Greene to the injured list on Friday due to a groin issue.

Utility man Connor Joe joined the team a day after being dealt from the San Diego Padres for minor league reliever Andrew Moore.

Houston – The way this road trip has gone for the Cincinnati Reds, manager Terry Francona was right to be concerned when an 11-run lead was soon cut to four after the Astros batted around against two of his pitchers in the third inning Saturday night.

Jake Fraley Returns To Reds Lineup

“Kind of felt like being at the dentist,” Francona said after the Reds (20-21) rallied for a 13-9 victory. “Everything turned out okay. But it wasn’t that much fun.”

How insane was this?

The Reds sent 14 men to the plate and scored 10 runs in the first inning, knocking out former All-Star Lance McCullers eight hitters into his second start after missing two years due to elbow surgery. Whether the lengthy idle time during the long inning hampered Reds starter Brady Singer, he wasn’t as effective as he had been most of the season, and the Astros took advantage in the third with a six-run inning, with Victor Caratini’s two-run homer with one out making it 12-8 and knocking Singer out.

“I was so glad, even when we just tacked on one later,” Francona stated.
