Bradford City boss provides injury updates on Lewis Richards, Tyreik Wright and Jamie Walker ahead of League Two home game

BRADFORD CITY manager Graham Alexander says the club’s medical experts are still assessing Lewis Richards after he missed the midweek win against MK Dons with an eye injury, while the League Two club has received excellent news about Tyreik Wright.
Left-back Richards was substituted in last weekend’s great win at Wrexham and is a doubt for Saturday’s home game against struggling Sutton United, where City are looking for their third win in row.
Wright joined City for a second loan spell last month, joining for the remainder of the season from Championship club Plymouth Argyle.

He has only played once so far, in a 1-1 draw with Salford City on January 23.
Wright has missed the last four league games with an injury niggle.

In his pre-match press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Alexander stated about Richards and Wright: “He (Richards) has just been able to see out of his eye for the last 24 hours. It inflated, and he had a lot of swelling all around it.

“He wouldn’t have been able to play on Tuesday night.

“It has come down, though, and he did some light workout to get his legs moving.

“But it’s important that he can see clearly out of that eye before he competes on Saturday.

“Fingers crossed that he’s in excellent health because he’s been a key part of what we’ve accomplished. But we need to make sure everyone is physically prepared.”

“Tryeik has been out on the grass, but not particularly with us. He is still taking his time with that.

“We will offer him every opportunity to become available as soon as feasible.

“But we have to learn from him coming in. I put him on the team, and he came off with a minor niggle.

“We have to start again a little bit and make sure we don’t put him at that sort of risk again because there are a lot of games that we need to play this season still.”

Jamie Walker, who has been out since December 23 due to an injury, has received some’really optimistic’ tests regarding his condition earlier this month, giving him a psychological boost.

Alexander went on to say, “Jamie’s self-esteem has improved significantly. He had a very favorable scan ten days ago, and I believe it has improved his prognosis significantly.

“He has not been out on the grass with us, but he has clearly increased his workload. His rehabilitation and return to training have progressed and begun to pick up speed.

“Tuesday and Saturday were excellent, but we want as many talented players around as possible. Jamie Walker and Tyreik Wright are excellent creative players for us, and we greatly miss them at the moment.”
