Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed his admiration for Leeds United winger Dan James, who joined Manchester United and Solskjaer’s side from Swansea City in July 2019.
James, 25, started brilliantly at Old Trafford before being dropped and struggled to regain his early form. He joined Leeds for £25 million two years later, having nearly moved to Leeds in January 2019.
Since then, the Wales international has been in and out of the Leeds squad, but he has emerged as an important figure this season. He didn’t start against Millwall on Sunday, but he came on to provide two assists. He might begin as early as tonight.
At his best, James is a player who belongs on a Premier League squad vying for a place in Europe. But the fact that he could be utilized in a rotation is a testament to the quality we have out wide at Leeds. Solskjaer is a supporter.
“Was desperate for Bellingham, but he chose Dortmund.” Probably reasonable. But it’s the reason I admire Wan-Bissaka, James, and Jadon. Young guys ready to step into a team that wasn’t quite there.”
Solskjaer holds high regard for Leeds winger James James, whose form at Manchester United under Solskjaer was actually quite impressive. Given that he only started 55 of 74 Manchester United games, he only played 90 minutes in 23 of them. 18 goals and 18 assists.
For his first two years in the Premier League and on the European stage, he was extremely reliable. So, without a doubt, James is better than Championship football. However, he now has the power to propel us back to the top tier.
