Championship strugglers. Huddersfield Town have several injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s Yorkshire derby against Leeds United.
Huddersfield Town will welcome back one of their top players for Saturday’s Yorkshire Derby against Leeds United. Wales international Sorba Thomas was notably absent from the Terriers’ comeback victory over Watford in Andre Breitenreiter’s debut match in charge.
The wide man did not make the trek to Vicarage Road after his child was born. However, Breitenreiter stated this afternoon that Thomas is in contention to play at John Smith’s Stadium.
“He has trained all week; he is prepared for Saturday,” stated the German manager. Thomas has shone for the Terriers this term, netting four goals and adding in with nine assists in their survival game.
Captain Jonathan Hogg (back) and Jack Rudoni (ankle) are undergoing late fitness tests, but January signing Radinio Baulker is definitely out. Top-scorer Michal Helik, who scored against United in the reverse fixture, might return to Breitenreiter’s thoughts after missing a month due to injury.
Breitenreiter stated, “He [Helik] has taken extremely good positive moves. He began training with the club on Monday. He trained the entire session today. He may join the squad. “We’ll decide tomorrow.”
The Terriers’ new head coach will also evaluate Brodie Spencer, Jaheim Headley, and Bojan Radulovic before naming his first-team squad. “We have too many injuries,” admitted Breitenreiter, who believes Delano Burgzorg will be available for selection. “We hope it will be better in the next few weeks.”
The match against United will be Breitenreiter’s first at home since taking over from Darren Moore. Despite earning maximum points at Watford, Town remain in serious peril. They are 19th, only two points above the relegation zone.
