SHOCKING NEWS : Calgary Flames key player has been suspended for 3 games

Martin Pospisil, a Calgary Flames center, has been suspended three games for an illegal contact from behind on Seattle Kraken’s Vince Dunn. The event occurred at 13:39 in the third period of Monday’s game, with the Flames trailing the Kraken. Pospisil, who has 15 points on the season and averages 12:06 of ice time per night, will miss the Eastern Conference road trip that will take Calgary to Tampa Bay on Thursday, Sunrise to play the Panthers on Saturday, and Raleigh to face Carolina on Sunday. His next available game will be on Tuesday in Calgary, when the Flames visit the Colorado Avalanche.

Along with his suspension, Pospisil will forfeit $12,109.38 of his annual salary. This is due to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and any money forfeited would benefit the Players Emergency Association. This is not Pospisil’s first suspension; he received one for an illegal check against Cole Perfetti in a preseason game against Winnipeg, and another in February in a game against Boston, where he made another illegal check, this time on Brad Marchand.

Flames sign Martin Pospisil to two-year, $2M contract extension

The Flames return to action Thursday against Tampa, trying to rebound from their 4-2 setback to Seattle.
