Nathan Fraser, a teenager for Wolves, has had a strong start to his professional career, yet he was almost sent out, according to Gary O’Neil.
The striker made his Carabao Cup debut against Blackpool a few weeks ago, which piqued the interest of many.
Nathan Fraser has been called up to the senior team as the fourth choice, following the failure of moves for Che Adams and Boulaye Did.
Fraser has yet to play in the Premier League, but Gary O’Neil expects him to make an impact at Molineux this season.
O’Neil has spoken with the young forward and disclosed that he almost left the club on loan this summer due to high interest.
Speaking with Express and Star, O’Neil explained that he was aware Fraser was an option and wanted to watch him play to see if he was ready.
“We’ve had him training with us more than he has done previously. We’ve had him around our group a lot, because I wanted to get eyes on him and see whether I felt he could help the group.
“Of course, during the transfer window we were trying to add to that attacking area and how we could add goals, but we knew Nathan was a potential option as well.
“I wanted to get a really good look at him in those days before the window shut.”
O’Neil then explained that there was a lot of sides looking at signing Fraser but that he decided to keep the youngster.
“There was a lot of interest from sides looking to take him on loan but I felt it was important, especially as we didn’t add a number nine, to keep Nathan around and have him around the first team group.”
O’Neil expects an impact this season from Fraser
Fraser is likely to get his chance in the league this season as he continues to impress at youth level aswell.
O’Neil has added too that he sees Fraser having an impact.
“He’s trained really well and I’m sure he’ll have an impact, whether that’s from the start or the bench, this season.”
Clearly a player O’Neil have huge faith in so we hope to see him get a chance soon.
