Things are changing behind the scenes at Manchester United, with INEOS eager to bring in the appropriate personnel to help the team return to the top of English football.
Omar Berrada has been recruited away from Manchester City and is expected to become the new CEO, while Dan Ashworth will eventually join as sporting director; it is only a matter of time as Newcastle continue to play hardball over the compensation package.
There are plans to add a technical director and a head of recruitment, and the changes will affect more than just the first squad, with new hires planned for the women’s team, medical department, and academy.
The People’s Person had already relayed that Ipswich Town
Head of Recruitment Sam Williams will join the club as the lead academy scout.
Sam Williams will lead the club’s recruitment drive for players aged 17-21, bringing in fresh talent from throughout the country.
He was formerly at the Red Devils but departed in quest of a bigger role, and he did exceptionally well with the Tractor Boys, who were promoted to the Championship from League One last season and are now leading the English second level.
A return to Old Trafford was too tempting to turn down, but as The Sun has learned, he will only arrive after the summer transfer window closes.
Williams problem
Following the ongoing Ashworth situation, Williams was placed on a six-month gardening leave after accepting the Red Devils’ offer, and Ipswich are willing to keep him until September if compensation is not paid.
“United will have to wait until after the next transfer window to bring back Ipswich’s top scout Sam Williams. Williams has been on a six-month gardening leave since leaving his senior position with the Tractor Boys.
“Unless Old Trafford officials pay compensation, their new ‘developing talent spotter’ would be unable to assist until September.
“It is a further hold-up in the Ratcliffe revolution as he waits on an agreement to land overlord Dan Ashworth from Newcastle.”
It is unclear whether this will necessitate any revisions to the plan. INEOS is unlikely to cave in to monetary demands, as evidenced by their dealings with Newcastle.
