What Daniel Farke told his player today in a private meeting

Max Wober claims a summer meeting with Daniel Farke prompted him to leave Leeds United.

Wober was speaking to Rheinische Post on his July move from Leeds to Borussia Monchengladbach, which he still calls a “difficult decision.”

Following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League last season, numerous members of last season’s first team squad were loaned out.
Wober was said to have assured Leeds that he was eager to stay despite only joining from Red Bull Salzburg in January, until an approach from Monchengladbach changed his mind.

Wober left Leeds just a few weeks after Farke was appointed manager, despite the fact that the 46-year-old had been fired by Gladbach just a few months before. Wober shares Farke discussion ahead of Leeds exit
In his most recent interview, Wober highlighted how a chat with Farke helped him decide that a transfer to the Bundesliga would be beneficial for his future.

“It was very difficult for me because I felt very comfortable there and had already built up a certain status in the club,” he explained, despite the fact that they were demoted. Then there were talks with both Leeds and Gladbach; it was just critical for me to be able to play at the highest level.

“On both sides, we (him and Farke) were completely open.” I immediately informed Mr. Farke that there had been contact with Gladbach and that I would most likely prefer to do so. He told me a little about his life. He objectively listed what he thought was fantastic and what he would improve. It was an interesting conversation in which to establish an opinion.”

Wober’s departure may have been a blessing in disguise, allowing Pascal Struijk to return to his natural position and hence his greatest form.

Wober has not been missed at all, and maybe Gladbach will opt to make his move permanent next summer, despite their poor start to the season.
