Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has stated that 2021 Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise’s injury recovery has been hampered.
Olise suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with France during the European U21 tournament in June, causing him to miss the start of the Premier League.
The 21-year-old was instrumental in the Eagles retaining their top-flight status last season, notably under Hodgson, who took over in March after Patrick Viera was fired.
The South London club has been successful in securing a longer-term contract for the Super Eagles-eligible winger, despite competition from Manchester City and Chelsea.
Hodgson said during his pre-match press conference before of Crystal Palace’s Premier League encounter against Alex Iwobi’s Fulham at Selhurst Park tomorrow that Olise’s recuperation has taken a hit.
According to Football Daily, the English tactician stated, “He got himself into a position where people thought maybe he could take some part in training, and unfortunately that was when there was a slight hiccup.”
Crystal Palace have done well in his absence, gaining 7 points out of a possible 15 in their first five league games.
