But at their final game, Clark’s father demonstrated in a viral video that she had a role model for breaking the rules even before she became a basketball star.
As the ESPN cameras went to Caitlin Clark’s father, Brent, he was delving deep into his pocket and munching something in his mouth, causing fans to suspect he had snuck goodies into the arena.
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, which will host the NCAA Women’s Final Four, does not accept outside food. Brent, like his daughter Caitlin, felt that the rules did not apply to him.
Smuggling food into movie theaters and sporting events is a regular practice across the country. It’s a way to save a few bucks instead of paying exorbitant stadium food prices, though it’s reasonable to assume the Clark family isn’t suffering in that regard.
Caitlin Clark’s NIL portfolio is worth more than $3 million, and her widely presumed position as the No. 1 pick in this year’s WNBA Draft means he could easily afford an exorbitant hot dog and popcorn.
Who is Caitlin Clark’s father?
Brent Clark, a two-sport collegiate athlete from Iowa, coached Caitlin throughout her childhood. He is married to Caitlin’s mother, Anne, who works in marketing and oversees her daughter’s image rights via CC22 Ventures LLC. They have a son, Blake, who played football at Iowa State and has attended many of his younger sister’s games.
“I see a lot of myself in Caitlin at times in terms of her passion for the game,” Brent once told KCRG-TV9. “All in all, that’s really what drives her and makes her the player that she is.”
Clark, like all great competitors, seeks an advantage wherever she may find it. Her father fostered this mentality in her, and his willingness to disobey the rules was evident.
