With four games remaining, the Tigers are still in contention for the top six. Jacob Greaves thinks any talk about his future can wait until the summer, with the focus firmly on Hull City’s final four games of a thrilling Championship season.
Greaves was named to the EFL Awards Team of the Season on Monday night, following a fantastic season for the 23-year-old.
Greaves has been so impressive that a slew of clubs have expressed interest in signing the big center defender this summer. However, City is still in with a chance of securing a play-off berth in the next two weeks of the
Campaign and summer transfer discussion can wait.
Of course, speculation about a move away from his hometown club is nothing new for Greaves, who was the subject of intense interest from Middlesbrough two summers ago, Roma was keeping an eye on him in July last year, and City officials are bracing for bids when the transfer window opens later this year.
Greaves, on the other hand, acknowledges he isn’t particularly bothered about the anticipated curiosity. He feels it’s a favorable reflection on both his and the team’s performances.
“I don’t really know, to be honest,” Greaves told Hull Live when asked if he was prepared for another summer of heavy conjecture. “It is what it is; if you put in performances and get noticed, that’s amazing. And if you don’t, you should do everything you can to grab those people’s attention.
“It’s just a tribute to the club and the way you’ve been performing in that regard; you’ve been putting in good performances.
“Honestly, I don’t know. I’m not thinking about it at all. I know it’s simple for me to say, but it’s actually the truth.
I’m just so focused on the next few games and putting in as good a shift as I can to help the team and the staff, and trying to achieve the goal that we set for ourselves at the beginning of the season.”
