Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson has revealed why Joshua Kayode will miss the final game of the season.

Joshua Kayode is out of Carlisle United’s final game of the season, but manager Paul Simpson won’t disclose why.

The loan striker stays in the team, but is “unavailable” for the second game in a row.

Manager Simpson stated that a “confidentiality” problem involving the Rotherham United player prevented him from disclosing details about his condition.

It comes after Simpson said last weekend that he received a phone call on the morning of the Wycombe Wanderers game informing him that the 23-year-old had made himself unavailable.

When asked for an update on the subject by the News & Star at his weekly press conference today, Simpson said: “All I can say again, and I can’t say any more, is he’s not available – I’m very sorry, but I can’t give any more information about it.”

“He is still at [the club] today. “He is not available.”

When asked when he would be able to provide additional information on a confusing scenario, Simpson responded: “I understand – and let me tell you that it is not my decision to withhold any information.

“There is a confidentiality issue, and I have been informed that is all I can say.

“You know me – and I get criticised for speaking openly and speaking too openly – but in this situation I really do have to just leave it at that.”
Simpson expressed frustration with the situation, stating, “The whole season’s been frustrating for JJ firstly, and us secondly, because I think we’re all fully aware of what JJ could have brought to the group and we’ve not had him available.”We’ve heard absolutely nothing from him.”

The forward has appeared in only four games this season due to shoulder and calf problems.

Simpson, meantime, says Jack Ellis suffered a hamstring rupture during Tuesday’s Fred Conway Cumberland Cup.

Workington Reds suffered their final defeat.
The ailment will last five weeks, according to the management, and the defender is anticipated to be ready for the start of preseason.

However, United’s manager voiced concern that it was only one of several hamstring issues the young Cumbrian has had throughout his career.

“We’re going to have to get medical advice on it to work out what we can do to help him,” Simpson added.

“We attempt to make the various muscle groups resilient and strong enough to withstand the demands of football. But we suffered a setback with Jack, which was quite disappointing.

“They’re incredibly hard to gauge because there was no hint of it in recent weeks or coming into the game, and we wouldn’t have taken the risks [if we had known].

“We believe it is a five-week injury. It is classified as a 2C strain, although the recovery time is most likely a 2B, which is five weeks.

“He should be fit to start pre-season with us at the end of June, as should the other lads who are injured who will still be with us, except Callum Guy, while Jack Robinson is speaking to the specialist about his injury and we’re waiting for feedback about that.”

Simpson said midfielder Dylan McGeouch is ready for the trip to Pride Park after fully training this week following a calf injury.

Sam Lavelle is also available, despite being one of four players who missed the first half of the week of training. The defender was withdrawn in the second half of the Wycombe defeat due to an ankle injury, but Simpson stated he participated in today’s training and was ready to play this weekend.
If Lavelle and Jon Mellish face the Rams, they will complete their ever-present league seasons.

“It’s incredible for Jon Mellish – I’m going to give him credit because he was very close to getting a suspension for five bookings, and then he got really close on the two-game suspension for the ten bookings, but he kept his discipline and didn’t do that, so great credit to him for doing that,” Simpson said.

“It’s difficult to be present during a complete season, so if they’re both accessible and selected, they deserve recognition.

“But on a season like this it doesn’t really count for anything in my mind.”
