Huddersfield Town will meet promotion-chasing Ipswich Town on the final day of the Championship season this Saturday. Head coach Andre Breitenreiter has urged his team to give their “best until the end” despite the fact that their relegation is almost certain.

To avoid relegation, Breitenreiter’s side would need to overcome a 15-goal deficit to fourth-place Plymouth Argyle in a final-day victory, which would be too difficult to accomplish.
Despite the fact that Town have lost their relegation battle, the Terriers’ manager does not want his team to relax until the final ball of the season is kicked.
“I told the team in the dressing room after the game that we are professionals, and we want to give our all until the end,” Breitenreiter told BBC Radio Leeds.
“This is what the fans expect, and this is what we expect of one another. We have one more game, and perhaps we can settle the promotion battle. For that, we prepare the week as we do every week.
“Then the season is over, and then it’s time for the whole analysis, and maybe to take some decisions for the future.”
Breitenreiter insisted on fielding a strong team against the Tractor Boys in order to finish the season on a high note. Although the Terriers have nothing to gain from their final-day game, they do have a say in what happens at the other end of the league, as Kieran McKenna’s team might secure promotion to the Premier League in Saturday’s showdown at Portman Road.
Despite his want to end the season on a high note, the Terriers’ manager does not rule out giving some of his younger players an opportunity to shine.
“We’ll see what happens next week, and which guys might be hurt. Maybe we have some sicknesses; you never know what happens in such a short week.”
The head coach explained. “Maybe it’s a possibility to give some players a chance, but also again I have to say, we are professionals, and we have to play with the best team, because we want to win this game, but sometimes it can be possible that it’s a young player than another player.”
With Town’s relegation fate all but confirmed, it is unknown whether Breitenreiter will continue to lead the Terriers into their first League One season since 2011/12.

With one game remaining, they are three points away from relegation. The head coach conceded that some discussions may now take place as a result of their relegation battle being ended, but the Terriers’ manager insisted that no decision would be made until the campaign was done.
“We have to concentrate on the last game and last week, but for sure, we have some talks more now, because it’s clear that we go down,” Breitenreiter said in a statement. “It’s a clever question now (asking if he wants to stay), but it’s not only on me. We must first analyze the entire season, then discuss the future, and then decide what happens after the season.
“There were too many blunders throughout the season, including my time when I arrived. I ask for your understanding that it is too early to have these conversations right now.
