TBR Football understands that recently promoted Ipswich Town are ready to make major moves, with Kieran McKenna’s side looking to focus on the Championship.
Town is well-versed in the division and is eager to use their experience to find players who they believe can help them succeed.
TBR understands that two candidates under consideration are Sunderland’s Dan Ballard and Pierre Ekwah. Sunderland is poised to sell Dan Ballard and Pierre Ekwah.
Despite Sunderland’s personal troubles, Ballard and Ekwah were standout players for The Black Cats.
Sunderland will be working on a tight budget in the coming months, and bringing in top prospects like Ballard and Ekwah with the expectation that they will be sold – which appears to be the case this summer.
Ipswich are not the only club interested in former Arsenal defender Ballard and former West Ham midfielder Ekwah, but they are prepared to make early attempts to sign the duo.
Cost of Dan Ballard and Pierre Ekwah
Ballard has a Transfermarkt value of £3.2 million, but given Sunderland spent £2 million on his signing less than two years ago, they’ll certainly expect much more, especially if interest grows.
The same goes for Ekwah, who is worth £2.4 million. The 2002-born only joined the Hammers last year, and considering his early promise, The Tractor Boys are unlikely to be able to sign him for anything close to that number.
A combined fee of around £8 million is more reasonable for both parties, as Sunderland will be well aware of Ipswich’s greater financial power following automatic promotion to the Premier League.
