Matt Glennon, a former Huddersfield Town goalkeeper, revealed he hoped Andre Breitenreiter would leave the Terriers.
The German coach quit the John Smith’s Stadium yesterday (May 10) after failing to prevent the club’s relegation to League One. He took over in February and left after only 13 games.
Glennon believes Breitenreiter is the appropriate guy to lead the Terriers as they attempt to rebound with a solid season in the third tier.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: “I was hoping he’d leave. I don’t think he was the right man to lead the club forward in League One. I could tell it was coming from his body language and what he said. “It’s not a big surprise, but it took longer than I expected.”The problem is that they hire so many different coaches and management. They require continuity in who they bring in.

Huddersfield now faces the arduous issue of making a management appointment that must be done correctly. Following the dismal tenures of Darren Moore and Breitenreiter, the club cannot afford to fail again.
Glennon believes Liam Rosenior, who was recently sacked by Hull City, would be “unbelievable” for the club.
He stated, “They have to bring in the proper individual, and if they can get someone like Liam Rosenior, that would be incredible. He’s a character who can connect with fans and players and has a clear vision of what he wants to accomplish.”
