LATEST UPDATE : Swansea City leading Bristol City in a battle race to sign Premier League striker

Swansea City and Bristol City are among the clubs interested in Arsenal’s Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, according to Football Insider.
Swansea City and Bristol City will both be looking for a successful summer transfer window as they prepare for the 2024/25 season. It will also be their first summer window under the direction of their managers. Luke Williams and Liam Manning will be looking to add to their teams’ rosters in order to propel them higher up the Championship table.

Both the Swans and the Robins will have potential signings on their radar, and it is now alleged that the Championship duo have identified striker Nathan Butler-Oyedeji as an early transfer target. According to Football Insider, Swansea City and Bristol City are in a ‘race’ to sign the 21-year-old Arsenal prospect. German clubs Schalke and Nurnberg are also said to be fans.

It is also predicted that he would leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, with little hope of making a senior breakthrough under Mikel Arteta’s leadership.

Better to look elsewhere?
Butler-Oyedeji, 21, is still a young player, and as an Arsenal product, he has received an excellent football education. He has also scored goals at the junior level, however his record of 12 in 47 games for the U21s isn’t very impressive.

Butler-Oyedeji has also failed to score a senior goal in 25 appearances while on loan at Cheltenham Town and Accrington Stanley.
Given his struggles in League Two and League One, it would be surprising if Championship clubs such as Swansea City or Bristol City took a risk on him.

Looking ahead to the next season.
Swansea City and Bristol City can both take positives from their season finales. They may have fallen short of competing for the top spot, but they both have reasons to be optimistic about the 2024/25 season.

Williams and Manning are promising managers who can lead their teams into exciting new chapters, but recruitment decisions must be made carefully.
Time will tell if Butler-Oyedeji is on the radar, but considering both teams’ need for a talisman, relying on an unknown teenager could be risky.

As a move away from Arsenal looming, perhaps he could show to be a wise signing in the future.
