Confirmed: The Son of former Sheffield striker offered new deal by Sheffield wednesday

Championship club Sheffield Wednesday announced their retained and released list on their official website following the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season.

Dominic Iorfa, a 2014 Nigeria Olympic National Team invitee, is one of seven players handed new contracts, alongside Barry Bannan, Cameron Dawson, Di’Shon Bernard, Liam Palmer, Will Vaulks, and Josh Windass.

Dominic is the son of Dominic Iorfa Sr., a former Super Eagles striker who represented Nigeria in the 1995 King Fahd Cup. The defender’s contract ends at the end of next month, and he will depart the Owls as a free agent if he does not sign a new agreement.

Iorfa advanced through the ranks at Wolverhampton Wanderers before joining Sheffield Wednesday in January 2019.

Overall, the 28-year-old has appeared in 165 Sheffield Wednesday matches and scored ten goals.

Iorfa, who was previously on the Nigeria Football Federation’s radar, has played for his native England at the U18, U20, and U21 levels.

Meanwhile, Ike Ugbo, a player formerly courted by the Nigerian Federation, has returned to his parent club Troyes after scoring seven goals in nineteen games during the second half of the recently finished season.
