Liam Palmer explains what he is ‘keen’ to do after signing Sheffield Wednesday contract

Liam Palmer has set his ambitions for the 2024-25 season after signing a new contract with Sheffield Wednesday.

Liam Palmer joined Sheffield Wednesday’s academy in 1999, and made his senior debut eleven years later.
The defender has subsequently made 435 appearances for the Owls, although there was speculation that his stint at Hillsborough may come to an end this summer.

Palmer proved to be a key figure in Danny Rohl’s rescue this season, playing throughout defence and midfield as they escaped relegation.

It was unknown whether the 32-year-old would be handed a new contract until the club’s retained list was disclosed in May, before it was reported he had signed a new term last year.

week. Palmer joins Barry Bannan in extending their spells at Hillsborough, having spent a combined 34 years with the club.

The veteran is now prepared to assist the Owls finish in the top half next season, but he has also set personal targets.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “I’m extremely grateful for the tremendous connection with the supporters that has developed over time. The fact that both Baz and I signed demonstrates our intent. I wanted to sign early and demonstrate that I was ready to go.
