LATEST: Portsmouth position over move for Brighton midfielder eyed by Sheffield United, Birmingham City, Cardiff City, Oxford United & Co

Marc Leonard is not among Pompey’s transfer targets this summer.

The Blues are still linked with a bid for Brighton’s promising midfielder, as the summer transfer window opens on Friday.
According to the News, the Scottish under-21 international is not currently on the club’s transfer radar as they continue to recruit.
Leonard’s name initially appeared in February as a subject of rumored Pompey interest, following an outstanding season on loan at Northampton in League One. The 22-year-old scored five goals and provided six assists as the Cobblers finished 14th.

Leonard has a year left on his original contract at the Amex Stadium, but the Seagulls have the option to extend his stay for another

Twelve months. Several clubs are reportedly interested in the central midfielder, who is rated at £300,000 by his Premier League team. Birmingham, Oxford, and Wrexham are the most recent teams named by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, with Pompey’s name appearing in other sources.

Cardiff, Sheffield United, Preston, and Swansea are among the clubs linked with Leonard throughout the summer.

Pompey, on the other hand, are not interested in the former Hearts youth player as they prepare for a busy transfer window.
The Blues are seeking for new center midfield options, but the club’s football operation believes Leonard isn’t ready for the Championship level.

Another season in League One for John Mousinho’s team could have changed the picture, giving the Glasgow-born prodigy more time to grow.

Pompey will seek elsewhere in the middle of the park after winning the title, with guaranteeing skipper Marlon Pack’s future being a top priority.

The Buckland lad is on the verge of extending his two-year stay at Fratton Park, but there has been little progress on Joe Morrell’s status since the club elected not to exercise a 12-month option to secure the Wales international’s future.

According to the News, Pompey are interested in investigating another loan deal for Chelsea’s Tino Anjorin, as well as a return to Fratton for Manchester City’s Alex Robertson.
