Sheffield Wednesday announced the acquisition of Yan Valery from French Ligue 1 team Angers on Friday. The Tunisian international returns to England after previously playing for Danny Rohl at Southampton, leaving in 2022 to join Angers.
Right-back Valery was relegated in his debut season with the French club before playing an important role in their rapid return to Ligue 1 the following season.
The 25-year-old appeared 35 times in Ligue 2 last season, recording four assists and earning a permanent move to Sheffield Wednesday. Yan Valery message to Sheffield Wednesday fans Sheffield Wednesday announced the news that Valery had joined from Angers on Friday morning. Soon after, Valery posted a message on X, saying his goodbyes to Angers after a successful two-year spell with the club, in which he made 68 total appearances. What next for Sheffield Wednesday in the transfer market With Sheffield Wednesday having three new signings within the first week of the summer transfer window, it suggests that the Owls plan to be busy this summer. A fourth summer signing may not be imminent and it looks as though it could well be Ian Poveda on a free transfer. The Owls are said to be in talks to sign Poveda this summer, though a deal is far from done with other teams thought to be keen on signing the Colombian this summer. If Poveda joins, though, it would be another impressive summer signing for Sheffield Wednesday, who certainly seem to mean business under Rohl this summer.
There must also be admiration for owner Dejphon Chansiri for arranging Rohl’s new deal and then demonstrating his desire in the summer transfer window.
So far, Sheffield Wednesday and Rohl are doing well in the summer transfer window.
