After signing Aidan Morris, Middlesbrough’s next transfer priority has been revealed.
Middlesbrough has been active on the transfer front this month, with two names already in and one on the way. Luke Ayling and Delano Burgzorg have signed permanent contracts with the Riverside ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season, joining from Leeds United and Mainz 05.
Boro are also close to signing a third player in the near future, with Aidan Morris expected to join from MLS club Columbus Crew.
The 2024 MLS season is still ongoing, as Morris played for Columbus on June 20, providing an assist as his team lost 2-1 to Inter Miami.
Columbus’ next game is against Sporting KC in the early hours of Saturday morning, and it is believed to be Morris’ last before he goes to England to complete his Boro swap.

Despite the fact that Middlesbrough are expected to bring in three new players less than a month after the transfer window started, Michael Carrick and co. appear to be far from finished bolstering their roster this summer.
Teesside Live has provided an update on Boro’s plans for the remainder of the window, reporting that ‘a striker remains a priority’ as the club completes their agreement for Morris.
While the North East club has been swift to secure new signings thus far, Middlesbrough is anticipated to be patient when it comes to adding a centre-forward.
Tottenham U21 striker Will Lankshear has recently been linked with Boro, but Teesside Live is unconvinced that the move will take place.
This is because Kieran Scott has stated that the Boro will prioritise permanent deals or loans that can be converted into permanent moves, something the club is unlikely to be able to achieve with Lankshear.
Does Middlesbrough need another striker this summer?
While Boro fans will be relieved to see their team still looking to add to their ranks after an early flurry of transfer activity, the striker position being viewed as a priority may raise a few questions.
Middlesbrough moved quickly to replace 29-goal hero Chuba Akpom, who moved to Ajax last summer, by signing Emmanuel Latte Lath.
Latte Lath needed some time to adjust to the Championship, but 16 goals in 30 league games last season suggests he will be Carrick’s first-choice number nine in 2024/25.
Elsewhere, new signing Burgzorg, who scored seven goals in 33 appearances for a struggling Huddersfield Town last season, can provide Lath with cover at centre-forward.
Josh Coburn, 21, will also be seeking to continue his career at the Riverside this season after being sidelined by injury in 2023/24.
