DONE DEAL : Iowa has landed one of its top targets on the offensive line in the 2025 class.

Iowa has landed one of its top offensive line prospects for the 2025 class. Iowa has signed one of its top offensive line targets for the 2025 class.

Following his official visit to Iowa City this weekend, Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central three-star offensive tackle Cameron Herron chose the Hawkeyes over Northwestern, Cincinatti, and West Virginia.

Herron is Iowa’s second offensive line commit in the 2025 recruiting class.

“Meeting with Kirk Ferentz and Coach Barnett were definitely two things that stood out,” Herron said previously following a visit to Iowa in the spring. “Coach Ferentz almost feels like my high school head coach talking to him, so there’s a good bond between us and a good talk overall. What stood out about Coach Ferentz was him talking about life and getting to know me more rather than his program. You could definitely tell he’s a good person.”

“I’ve always loved Coach Barnett as a person. I see where he’s at with me, how he likes Iowa, and how I would fit at Iowa. We had a player panel, and I definitely feel like I have a fit there. One thing I look at in a school is the player bond. The offensive line is normally the closest bond out of the whole team, and I feel like I definitely have to look at that, and I can tell they’re really close.” “Iowa is definitely up there,” he said previously. “I love Iowa. The coaches, player bond, and knowing I got two Indy guys in Iowa City is a good feeling to know that you got two people that came from the same area you came from. You can bond with them. They’re known for producing offensive linemen, and that was big from the start for me. Meeting Coach Barnett and Coach Bell, that bond I’ve built with them is huge. They’re definitely great guys. Meeting with Coach Ferentz definitely was the cherry on top. Those are all things that make me like Iowa.”

COMMIT: Iowa Lands Three-Star Indianapolis Guard Cameron Herron

Herron is the ninth commit in the class for the Hawkeyes, and there are sure to be more to come. The Impact: Iowa signed two Indianapolis natives on the offensive line in the 2023 class and has added another in the 2025 class. Herron is projected to play on the interior for Iowa and would be an excellent fit in the offensive line room. Joey VanWetzinga, an Iowa offensive line commit, is projected to play center, with Herron playing one of the guard positions. Iowa is also looking to sign Brock Heath at guard and Lucas Allgeyer at tackle. Iowa is adding a lot of good players to its offensive line under George Barnett, and the 2026 class will be key as well.
