Leeds United and Sheffield United are reportedly interested in acquiring FC Basel winger Liam Millar this summer, with the Swiss club looking to maximise the money.Transfers have been relatively quiet at Elland Road recently, with Daniel Farke’s pre-season starting in just a few days.According to reports, Leeds are looking to sign players as Farke seeks promotion in the second tier.
The Athletic reported that Leeds are interested in signing FC Basel winger Liam Millar this summer as the club prepares to sell Crysencio Summerville.
Millar is a name that Leeds fans will be familiar with, having tormented the club twice last season while on loan at Preston, scoring a screamer of a goal at Deepdale on Boxing Day – before providing an early assist in Leeds’ 2-1 win over Ryan Lowe’s side in the rematch.
Millar’s contract with the Swiss giants expires in 12 months, and Basel appears to be open to prospective offers following his loan in Lancashire.
Will Leeds get promoted next season?FC Basel established Millar’s asking price despite interest from Leeds and Sheffield United.
According to a report from Nau, Basel sees a possibility to earn large money on Millar this summer.
Sheffield United and Leeds are both interested, and Basel is said to be seeking a sum “well above” the rumored market worth of €2.5 million (£2.1 million).
If Liverpool is able to reach an agreement with Basel to sign Millar, they will be entitled to 20% of the transfer price.
Millar would be very uninspiring if signed to replace Summerville. If we’re losing Summerville after 19 goals and nine assists, replacing him with someone who had five goals and five assists in the same league isn’t exactly optimal.
We should search for a winger to replace Summerville’s efforts in front of goal, which Millar was inconsistent with.If he is recruited for depth, we will be making a wise decision, as will Sheffield United; but, I believe there is better out there.
