Mickel Miller has joined Huddersfield Town after rejecting a new contract offer from Plymouth Argyle. Huddersfield Town has signed wing-back Mickel Miller on a two-year contract.
The left-sided player joins the Terriers after his contract with Plymouth Argyle expired. The 28-year-old turned down a new agreement with the Championship club to sign for Town.
The former Carshalton Athletic, Hamilton Academical, Rotherham United, Northampton Town, and Plymouth defender is Town’s second signing of the summer, joining fellow wing-back Lasse Sorensen from Lincoln City.
“I’m really happy to be a Huddersfield Town player, and it didn’t take long for me to decide that this was the club I wanted to join this summer, despite other offers,” Miller stated on his team’s website.
“Speaking with the sporting director and head coach demonstrated how much Town wants to achieve, and it made me want to be a part of it. I’m an ambitious person, and the club shares that, which makes you feel good right away.
“I’m looking forward to working hard, enjoying an exciting season with my new team and getting to know our supporters better at the John Smith’s Stadium.”
Miller began his career with non-league club Carshalton, where he scored 61 goals in 163 appearances before
In January 2018, he joined Hamilton, then in the Scottish Premiership.
The left-sided player went on to play 68 games in the Scottish Premiership over two and a half years before joining then-Championship club Rotherham
The defender made only nine games for the Millers in his debut season, spending the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at Northampton, but went on to play 30 times in all competitions in Rotherham’s promotion-winning season the following year.
Miller left the Millers to join Plymouth that summer, and the wing-back has now decided to go down a tier to the Terriers after a two-year tenure with the Pilgrims.
“Having coached against Mickel before, I know what a handful he is.
can be going forward, but his defensive diligence is also something I find very impressive,” Town’s head coach Michael Duff stated.
“Introducing players at the start of pre-season provides the group with a tremendous sense of renewal and enthusiasm, enhancing competition for positions and training intensity right away. Mickel will assist enhance the level of our grass-based sessions, which we have already loved.
Sporting director Mark Cartwright added: “Mickel has been a player in high demand this summer, so we’re delighted that he has bought into our vision and chosen to join us ahead of the 2024/25 season.”

Miller made only 12 appearances in his team’s League One title-winning season at Home Park due to injury.
However, the 28-year-old appeared 37 times in all competitions last season, helping the Pilgrims avoid relegation from the Championship on the last day of the season.
The wing-back was linked with a move to a number of Championship clubs this summer, with Football Insider reporting that Portsmouth, Preston North End, Oxford United, and Sheffield Wednesday were all interested in signing him, while Town’s new signing also decided not to extend his stay in the second tier with the Pilgrims.

Meanwhile, Miller sent a parting message to the Pilgrims on Instagram, writing: “Forever in my heart, wishing the fans, players, coaches, and staff nothing but the best, good luck next season.”
