Tee Higgins will play the 2024 season with the Cincinnati Bengals under the franchise tag, and he was open about his future plans with the organization.
“This could be the last ride for me and the guys,” he told the team’s website. “You never know.” Instead of sitting and watching from a distance, I’d rather be in the mix with the men and grind it out. That is how I have always been.

It’s unclear whether such an extension will ever happen, but with Joe Burrow making a lot of money and Ja’Marr Chase likely to get a Justin Jefferson-style extension at some point, the Bengals may be unable to pay Higgins market value while still having enough money to fill out the rest of the roster. If he enters free agency in 2025, he will be one of the best players on the market. While injuries limited him to just 12 games last season, he recorded 1,000-yard seasons in 2021 and 2022.

The Bengals did not want to lose him in 2024 as they pursued a Super Bowl championship. Higgins shares the short-term goal.
“I had time to reflect and consider. I had a long conversation with my agency. There was a lot of back and forth about what I wanted to accomplish,” he explained. “I just decided to sign the tag.” At the end of the day, I just wanted to come out here and try to win the Super Bowl. I am pleased with the decision I made. I’m here for the Bengals in 2024. I’m ready to finish it and get back with my boys.”
