Last summer, Wolverhampton Wanderers expressed interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Nico Elvedi.
Bild reported on July 8th that the Premier League team had launched a second effort to sign the defender. Wolves reportedly negotiated personal terms with him last summer.
According to Wetterauer Zeitung, Gary O’Neil’s team was a ‘possible buyer’ for the 27-year-old both last year and this summer. The Switzerland international could earn more if he joins Wolves, but according to the report, the money component will not influence his decision on his future.
Elvedi has already begun pre-season training with the Bundesliga club, which granted the German media an interview with him on Sunday. During that time, he left the door open to leave Gladbach.
“I am currently at Gladbach. As I previously stated, if an opportunity arises, I will consider it, but I am content where I am. Of course, after nine years, you begin to consider whether something new would be beneficial. “It has to be something interesting and meaningful,” he stated, as reported by Wetterauer Zeitung.
“The transfer window is open until August 31st, something can always happen before then.”
Wolves were unable to complete the deal a year ago, and it is unclear whether they will be able to sign him this summer after Elvedi opened the door for a transfer.
