Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to confirming the acquisition of 18-year-old France international.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing FC Nantes’ Bastien Meupiyou this summer, according to a report from France. The 18-year-old graduated from the Ligue 1 club’s youth system before making his first-team debut in September. He suffered an injury in October 2023 and missed the remainder of last season.

According to Ouest-France, the defender has been preparing for the upcoming season with the French club.

Meupiyou’s contract expires in less than a year, and Nantes manager Antoine Kombouaré warned in July that if it is not renewed, he will be sold during this window.

“He needs to extend it, or he will leave,” Kombouaré remarked.

Wolves have already made their first offer, however the sum has not been disclosed. According to the report, Gary O’Neil’s team has ‘positioned themselves’ to capture the centre-back with a second €4 million bid.

Ouest-France makes no indication of Nantes’ reaction to the Premier League club’s second proposition.

Jorge Mendes manages the France U18 international, and the super agent has tight relations to Wolves. Mendes could be working to place the child at Molineux within the next few weeks.
