On Thursday, the Dallas Mavericks announced that forward Kessler Edwards had officially signed a two-way deal. Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium originally reported the signing in late July.
Edwards, who is 6 feet 7, appeared in 54 games for the Sacramento Kings last season, averaging 1.7 points and 5.1 minutes per game. In 138 career games with the Kings and Brooklyn Nets, he has averaged 3.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 11.9 minutes. Edwards was taken with the 44th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Edwards will wear No. 20 for the Mavericks.
The Mavericks requested waivers for two-way forward Alex Fudge to create room for Edwards. Fudge played in two games for Dallas during the 2023-24 season. He most recently competed with the club in the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas, averaging 4.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 13.1 minutes in five games.
NBA teams are allowed to have three players on two-way contracts. These players can participate in up to 50 regular season games for their squad. Players on two-way contracts will earn $578,577 in 2024-25, which is half the NBA rookie minimum.
