Neto is set to move on, but to an unexpected team. Wolves are in advanced talks with a surprise Premier League club about selling Pedro Neto, according to a new report.
Neto has been heavily linked with moves to Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City this summer, with the latter considering him as a replacement for Julian Alvarez.
Last season, the Portugal winger had nine assists in 20 games for Wolves, with only injury preventing him from having a greater impact on Gary O’Neil’s team.
Last month, transfer journalist Simon Phillips claimed that Chelsea had expressed interest in signing Neto to the player’s agents.
However, there has been little to no indication that the Blues will make a move for the winger worth £50 million.
However, RMC Sport has now reported that a deal between Chelsea and Wolves is practically complete, with Neto reportedly expressing his wish to transfer to Stamford Bridge.
According to reporter Fabrice Hawkins on Twitter, talks are at a ‘final stage’ and the two teams have already reached an agreement in principle. Liam Keen of the Wolverhampton Express and Star reports that the agreed-upon sum is £51.4 million.
When bonuses are factored in, it could grow to £54 million, giving Wolves the opportunity to quadruple the £18 million they spent to buy him from Lazio back in 2019.
Since then, Neto has established himself as an
When fit, he is one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League, but that may be the only issue for Chelsea. The 24-year-old has played 51 Premier League games in the last three seasons, but Wolves were certainly poorer without him.
Wolves are claimed to have rejected lower proposals from Chelsea before agreeing on the £51.4 million first fee, with The Athletic reporting that Neto will now undergo a medical at Cobham before completing his move.
