After the season, Juan Soto will be a highly sought-after free agent, and one team is expected to sign him, according to a reporter.
In a piece that was published on Thursday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post projected the likelihood that Soto would sign with several teams.
Heyman had Soto, who has been excellent in his one season with the franchise, as an even money favourite to sign with the Yankees. Heyman was next with the Mets at 5-1. The odds then drastically changed, with the
Third-placed Dodgers were given 15-1 odds.
In the end, Heyman believes the Yankees have the advantage in what will probably be a two-way race between the Yankees and Mets for Soto.
To acquire Trent Grisham and Soto in December, the Yankees sent five players to the Padres. Soto has been a tremendous player for the Bronx Bombers, despite the fact that acquiring the outfielder cost them a lot of guys. With 24 doubles, 34 home runs, and a 1.052 OPS, he is batting.307 overall. He also leads the league in walks with 102.
Soto has done just about everything he can to entice the Yankees to want to hold onto him. Whether the money will be sufficient for the 25-year-old player—who previously declined a sizable offer from the Nationals—is the question.
