JUST IN: Patriots Player Notes Two Defenders Who Will Help Replace Matthew Judon

Keion White, a second-year defender for the New England Patriots, doesn’t think he’ll be the guy most likely to take over for recently traded edge rusher Matthew Judon.

After the Patriots’ preseason loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, White mentioned two edge rushers he thinks will assist replace Judon: Joshua Uche and Oshane Ximenes, in an interview with NESN’s Sean T. McGuire.

In exchange for Judon last week, New England received a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft from the Atlanta Falcons.

The most recent installment of NESN’s “Foxboro Rush” podcast included McGuire sharing his key takeaways from his chat with White.

Alongside co-host George Balekji, McGuire stated, “The whole outside perception now is what you’re talking about, and kind of what I thought too, is that Keion White is going to be such a key factor in replacing Judon off the edge.” “White (the speaker) does not view it that way. In a way, he stated, “I would rather be the interior rusher.” Keion White would prefer to be on the interior rather than the edge when it comes to obvious passing downs, third-and-longs, and other situations because he believes he is faster on the interior and slower on the edge.”

In the preseason opener on Thursday, White began on the outside against Anfernee Jennings, who has shown promise in the run game. Uche and Deatrich Wise were

the two edge rushers to enter the field as White moved to the interior on Philadelphia’s first third down.
“That’s not to say his (White’s) production in the grand scheme of things won’t make up for what Judon’s leaving behind,” added McGuire. “Keion White actually mentioned both Josh Uche and (Oshane) Ximines as those sorts of (edge) players that will make up for Judon.”
