SHOCKING NEWS : Georgia football key player has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after

Ahkil Nasir Crumpton, a former Georgia football player, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of various crimes in the shooting death of a petrol station clerk.

The Justice Department announced Crumpton’s sentencing, stating that court documents and evidence presented at the trial indicated that Crumpton approached store clerk Elijah Wood at a RaceTrac gas station in Watkinsville, Georgia, at 1:15 a.m. on March 19, 2021, and “pointed a Glock 19 pistol with a weapon mounted light at Wood, firing one round at close range towards Wood, striking him in the chest.”

Wood, who was on a FaceTime connection with his fiancée at the time, died at the spot. Crumpton left without taking any money from the ATM.

Ballistics tests on the Glock 19 pistol used by Crumpton in the Philadelphia incident indicated that it was also used to kill Wood in Georgia.Last March, FTI and ATF officers arrested Crumpton in Philadelphia on a murder warrant stemming from the Georgia shooting.

According to the Justice Department, Crumpton jumped out of his bedroom window before being caught by FBI SWAT during a chase.

The feds located the Glock 19, which ballistics testing proved was used in both deadly shootings, inside a backpack in Crumpton’s bedroom, as well as clothing worn by him during both occurrences.

Juwan Taylor, Crumpton’s colleague, testified at the trial that Crumpton admitted to the shooting at the petrol station, stating, “I didn’t mean to do it – I just wanted the money, I just shot him at the store, at the store,” and that the gun “just went off.”

Crumpton played wide receiver for Georgia in 2017 and 2018.

Crumpton was sentenced to 20 years in jail for interfering with commerce by attempting robbery, with an extra 10 years for making a false statement during the purchase of firearms. On the latter allegation, co-defendant James North Armstrong acknowledged to buying the Glock 19 for Crumpton and faces up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine after pleading guilty in October to one count of making a false statement while purchasing a firearm.
