Updated Roster Leaves Raptors With One Spot Following Latest Signing…

In preparation for training camp later this summer, the Toronto Raptors have nearly finalised their roster.

Toronto currently has 20 players that have signed formal contracts. on the addition of Jamison Battle during Summer League and Jared Rhoden on Monday, there are now 14 players on guaranteed contracts for the next season, three on two-way agreements, and two on Exhibit 10 deals. With training camp coming up in less than a month, that leaves one spot available.

 

Since the draft finished in late June, a few names associated with Toronto have surfaced in various publications. According to Michael Scotto of, Canadian forward Quincy Guerrier signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Raptors.

HoopsHype, and was with Toronto during Summer League; however, the terms of that agreement are still pending. According to Nick Schultz of On3, Dylan Disu of Texas has also purportedly signed an Exhibit 10, albeit the agreement has not yet been formalised.

The fact that Toronto hasn’t made the deals public regarding Exhibit 10 isn’t really a problem. The main purpose of these agreements is to purchase a player’s G League rights. Toronto can sign Guerrier and Disu to exhibit 10 deals after training camp, or they can wait until the end to waive Rhoden or Battle. In the next season, the Raptors 905 would be able to retain the rights to all four players as a result.

It appears that Bruno Fernando will get first dibs on Toronto’s final roster position for the upcoming season. If he makes Toronto’s roster, his non-guaranteed salary of $2.1 million will be guaranteed on opening night.

To challenge Fernando for that slot, Toronto might, nevertheless, use its final roster spot to sign one more free player. Christian Koloko, the team’s former centre who missed the last campaign because of a blood clot problem, has drawn interest from the organisation. Although he has not yet been given the all-clear to return, in the upcoming weeks, his health condition should be updated.
